BLACKSMITHING FOR BEGINNERS (SUN)

Event description

If you've always wanted to try blacksmithing, here's your chance! Only 4 spots are available for this rare opportunity to learn the ancient art, in Smith Art’s workshop in Cawongla, Northern Rivers.

Class Project: Pair of Decorative S Hooks
We'll fire-up a coke fuelled forge to explore different blacksmithing techniques of twisting and "drawing-out" steel on the anvil, using hammers and tongs. All this while creating your unique pair of S hooks. Afterwards, there'll be “free” time for you to explore this considerably versatile and creative artform.

Your tutor, Nyree, has gained the majority of her blacksmithing skills over many years in Spain. She’s eager to share these fun, creative and practical skills with you and give insight into a world that may have otherwise been inaccessible.

All materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be supplied.

Filtered water and kitchenette facilities available

What to Bring and Wear
- Leather work books, preferably steel capped,
- Cotton work clothes,
- Long hair tied back and fingernails trimmed.
